Google rolled out its weekly list update today, and it’s one of the largest we’ve ever seen. Coverage from local companies and pickup coverage has finally been added, confirming several towns and regions we didn’t expect to receive coverage or updates. Most notably, Ghana has just been confirmed for updated coverage, and it’s even included on the official published list!
UPDATE: Nepal, a new country (though most likely a Badcam one) has also been added on October 11th. The article has been updated to mention this.

UPDATE: 🇳🇵 Nepal (2024/10/11)
After not being included in last week’s Street View update, Nepal has finally been added to the Street View list.
It was originally vaguely mentioned in an older list update, but was left unpublished. Today’s list update is the first public announcement of coverage in Nepal, after spottings and unofficial confirmations.
All provinces, except Karnali, are included in this update (though it’s likely that this province will be covered). The towns in the list are primarily in areas near the Indian border—where the majority of Nepal’s population resides—as well as Kathmandu, the capital, and Pokhara, the second-largest city. Interestingly, Nepal becomes the first country to be added to the list with Badcam coverage, which sets a unique precedent. There’s a chance that Google could also be using Gen 4 cameras or might introduce them in Nepal in the future, but based on the current information, this seems highly unlikely.

🇲🇨 Monaco
Let’s begin with Monaco. Previously, Monaco was one of the few countries with only Gen 2 coverage until it received an update last year with coverage from 2021, and it seems poised for another update soon.
Google lists nearly all wards, except for two, though it’s likely that the entire country will receive updated coverage. The last update in Monaco had 2021 coverage, released in 2023, although wasn’t the most thoroughly covered.
Recently, Google appears to be focusing heavily on smaller European nations, with recent updates to San Marino, Malta, Iceland, and Liechtenstein. We could potentially see more updates for countries of Monaco’s size, such as Andorra. The new coverage is scheduled for October, so its release is expected soon, as was done in Liechtenstein and Iceland.

🇲🇾 Malaysia
Malaysia has now been added to the list, following Google’s resumption of driving in the country after a two-year hiatus, starting in 2023. Google has announced coverage for all states and federal territories between January and November 2024, with the exceptions of Terengganu, Kelantan, and Labuan.
Notably, this marks the first time Google will cover Malaysian Borneo using Gen 4 (although this was previously confirmed in July), including several new islands and areas located hundreds of kilometers apart (pictured below).
Labuan isn’t currently listed, (currently lacks Gen 4 coverage), which might indicate it won’t be covered immediately—but it’s likely to be added later, possibly in 2025. While a few towns are listed under the wrong regions (such as Putrajaya), the overall accuracy seems reliable.

🇷🇸 Serbia
As previously confirmed, this list doesn’t entirely matter as Google is most likely going to cover the entire country, even with rural and mountainous roads, and the areas not listed will most likely still receive coverage, as a lot of districts mentioned in the original article are not on the list. The coverage announced for this country ranges from August to December 2024 for now.
After several announcements and confirmation of driving operations in Serbia, we now finally have Serbia officially listed. You can learn more about Serbia’s coverage here, but Google has released its official list of areas to be covered, which interestingly differs from their original list.
Most of the towns listed are located in the northwest, central, and southwest regions of the country. Several new towns near the Kosovo border, as well as areas around Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Kragujevac, have been included in the list.
As previously confirmed, the current list is not definitive, as Google is expected to cover the entire country, including rural and mountainous areas, according to various sources, and this list focuses on specific regions that they will cover for now. Many districts mentioned in the previous article aren’t on the current list, but they are still expected to receive coverage. The announced coverage for Serbia spans from August to December 2024.

🇳🇦 Namibia
Namibia, set to receive its first new coverage soon, has also been listed. The coverage, scheduled from January to December 2024, is interesting as it doesn’t align with our previous knowledge about Namibia’s coverage timeline.
It’s possible Google is planning continuous updates after the initial coverage, which is exciting news. All regions are listed, though no specific towns are mentioned, suggesting that the entire country may be fully covered.

🇹🇷 Turkey
Google has officially added Turkey to its coverage list, further confirming that they are also listing coverage done by local companies. Most towns listed in Turkey are already covered, as Google has been covering the country for years, although the island of Avşa, which currently doesn’t have coverage, will receive its first-ever coverage soon.
Apart from Avşa, there aren’t many notable updates in Turkey’s listing, with most areas already included in previous coverage efforts. Most regions in the Turkey are listed, except for an area center-west near Ankara, and in the exterior of the country. Currently, the coverage listed is from April to November 2024.

🇰🇪 Kenya
Another country that’s been covered for a while, but not being listed is Kenya. This country regularly gets updated, although lacks coverage, but it looks like the country is finally being listed. Most towns and counties were listed, although all of them have some sort of coverage. Noticeably is how the north and the east of the country were not listed, likely due to a lack of population and security.

🇰🇿 Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan, a country about which we previously had limited information on its coverage, has finally been added to the list.
The towns listed align with earlier confirmation from KazAeroSpace, including three newly confirmed towns: Lisakovsk, Zhaksy, and Zerenda, as well as several other newly added towns and areas, while fitting within the original timeline, with coverage between July 2024 and December 2024 mentioned, likely meaning that these two lists are related.

🇷🇼 Rwanda
Rwanda, another country that was recently covered, has now been added to the list. Only towns in the country’s Eastern Province are listed, with some already receiving coverage, and it appears that Google is expanding to cover a new area in the east, which previously only had coverage along the main highway.
The announced coverage ranges from January to November 2024, with the new towns expected to receive coverage between July and November. Similar to Kenya, it seems Rwanda will also have more permanent coverage.

🇵🇾 Paraguay
Paraguay, one of the most recent countries planned for coverage, has also been added to the list. Although all spottings so far have been in the capital, Asunción, and its neighboring Central Department, Google seems to be covering the entire country, with several new towns now listed.
While many of these towns are near the capital, Ciudad del Este, and the road between them, more distant towns like Pedro Juan Caballero and Encarnacion have also been confirmed.
As with other updates, we can expect full coverage. At least we now have confirmation that the entire country will be included.

🇨🇷 Costa Rica
Costa Rica, another new addition (although having previous Gen 3 Trekker coverage), has now been included in the list. Unfortunately, the update only includes towns near the capital, San José, rather than those further away. Interestingly, many of these towns have not yet received spottings.
The listed coverage dates span from May to November 2024, aligning with the current timeline of spottings.

🇪🇨 Ecuador
Ecuador, one of the most recent countries to receive Gen 4 coverage, has now been officially added to the list. Ecuador received updated Street View last month, initially covering only the capital, Quito, and its surrounding towns. With the latest list update, it’s now confirmed that they are also covering Guayaquil, the neighboring town of Duran (both in the Guayas province), as well as another town south of Quito.
The announced coverage ranges from February to December 2024, with the Guayas coverage scheduled between August and December 2024.

🇧🇩 Bangladesh
Bangladesh is a country that Google has actively been covering since 2021, and it has now officially been added to the list.
The listed coverage spans from February to July, excluding the new coverage spotted in September and October of this year. Interestingly, the official listing mentions only two subdivisions, though it actually includes five along with their towns.
However, many of these listings are inaccurate, and there is no coverage from June and July currently available, although this could be added later as towns such as Assasuni and Rangamati, which were expected to receive updates according to the list, still lack updated coverage.

🇬🇭 Ghana
Out of all these updates, the biggest one is that Ghana is set to receive its first-ever Gen 4 coverage and its first update since 2016! Currently, coverage has been announced for the Eastern, Ashanti, and Greater Accra regions. Based on Google’s typical approach, this could either mean full coverage, and the list will be updated later or the coverage will only be in Kumasi, Accra, and the road between these cities.
Currently, Google has full coverage of Accra, some highways, and partial coverage in Kumasi, Tamale, and Wa, Cape Coast, Takoradi, and a few other cities. However, we now know that the Greater Accra and Kumasi regions will finally receive full, detailed coverage, with the potential to expand to other parts of the country. Announced coverage in Ghana ranges between July and December 2024.

🇭🇷 🇧🇦 Croatia and Additional changes
Croatia has recently been re-added to the list with updated dates, though nothing particularly interesting has been mentioned so far.
Northern Ireland and the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores have also had their dates updated. However, until we receive a confirmed spotting or further updates, we can’t be certain if this coverage will be released.
If accurate, these regions are now expected to receive coverage by December 2024.
Additionally, Bosnia’s coverage could be completed much earlier than we originally thought, as the completion date has been moved to November 1st. However, they may still continue coverage after that date.

This update highlights the significant number of releases and future updates Google has been working on this year, possibly in response and to copy Apple, which has been releasing several new countries and a better list.
Additionally, we’ve gained a lot of new information on several upcoming Street View updates—some previously known, while others are new and quite exciting, such as Ghana. Interestingly, Google has left out several confirmed updates, including those for Uruguay and Oman, suggesting there could be even more updates that we aren’t yet aware of.
