In what is currently the largest update that Google has released this year, Google has released Smallcam coverage in several countries—being the first release of Smallcam outside of Puerto Rico and the now-hidden Switzerland Smallcam coverage.
Most notably, India has received its first Gen 4 coverage alongside Smallcam, which finally makes India have road coverage using official cameras. This is major news, as this leaves only a few countries—such as Lebanon and São Tomé and Príncipe—as the last few countries with only Badcam road coverage.

🇮🇳 India
Firstly, India has received its first Smallcam and Gen 4! This comes after months of rumors and plans—and 13 years of waiting—with India no longer being the largest Badcam-only country. This is great news for Google Street View and shows that Google is slowly phasing out Badcam.
Currently, India’s Smallcam coverage spans from December 2024 to February 2025 and is limited to the cities of Hyderabad and Chennai in southern India. The eastern city of Bhubaneswar also had spottings, but coverage has yet to be released.
🇪🇺 Europe (Greece, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Portugal and the Netherlands, Turkey, Ireland, Austria, Belgium)
In Southern Europe, Greece, which is currently the only country in the Balkans with Smallcam spottings, has also released Smallcam—making it the first country in Europe to have Smallcam officially released. Currently, Smallcam has only been released in Kavala, in the northeast, Glyfada, near the capital, Athens, and Anatoli in the west.
Additionally, Portugal received its first Smallcam in the town of Charneca da Caparica, and Italy received its first Smallcam in the town of Camaiore in the Tuscany region along with Udine and Trieste in the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
In Western Europe, France also received Smallcam coverage, with Smallcam currently in Antony and Saint-Denis, near Paris, Nancy and Forbach, near the German border, Rennes, in the northern region of Brittany, Cholet in Pays de la Loire, Limoges in Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Romans-sur-Isère in the south-east. The Netherlands received Smallcam in Ridderkerk and Barendrecht, in the province of South Holland, Roermond in Limburg along with Utrecht in the province with the same name, and the United Kingdom received Smallcam coverage in the English towns of Hull and High Wycombe.
🇺🇸 United States
The second-largest update of this release, Hawaii has received its first coverage since 2019—nearly six years ago—with Smallcam releasing on the main island, O‘ahu (where the capital, Honolulu, is located).
Currently, the coverage is from December 2024 to February 2025 and will probably extend to the other islands based on spottings. Hawaii is the only state in the United States with smallcam (excluding Puerto Rico as it’s a territory)
UPDATE: Additonally, California received its first smallcam, with October 2024 coverage in San Jose! We can likely see this coverage expand to other states over time.
🇿🇦 South Africa
Lastly, for now, South Africa received its first Smallcam coverage in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa’s largest city, along with Sandton in the Gauteng region. This is also the first Smallcam coverage to use a truck instead of a regular cam, making it more similar to regular Gen 4, although with significantly larger blurring.
Additionally, several countries, such as Brazil, Norway, and Japan, have Smallcam spotted or confirmed but have yet to have their coverage released by Google. This article will expand over time as new countries receive Smallcam!

Smallcam has greatly expanded since this post, with smallcam officialy releasing in Ireland, Turkey, Austria and Belgium! Additionally, smallcam has greatly expanded in countries like India and the United Kingdom, with Scotland and Wales receiving smallcam!
