Last week in Google Street View (Week 14, 2023)

Discover the updates and the additions that happened last week (3 - 9 April 2023)

Due to time constraints and team restructuration this weekly report had to be delayed.

Main Events

  • April 2023 coverage is now available in France, Hungary, Romania and Spain
  • March 2023 coverage is now available in Bangladesh, Brazil, Denmark, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Romania, Sweden and Thailand
  • January 2023 coverage is now available in Chile and Peru (with December 2022 for the latter as well)
  • An update happened on the list of future coverage this week:
    • Luxembourg now ends in May instead of October
    • Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland now ends in September instead of October
    • the United Arab Emirates now end in April instead of February, and Ajman was added
    • Denmark is now planned between February and September
    • Slovakia is now planned between April and October
    • the Canary Islands in Spain are now panned between March and April

New Coverage

In the north of Austria new roads were added close to Czechia and Germany, and also east of Linz.

In Brazil now roads were added in the states of Mato Grosso and Rondônia.

In the north of the state of Pará, new roads were added around the main town of Belém.

Finally in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul the BR-101 was completed near Rio Grande.

In Bangladesh the coverage greatly expanded again in the Khulna division, making it almost complete.

In Indonesia the island of Madura got many new roads covered in the western part.

The Philippines saw a lot of roads being added north of Manila.

Peru saw major additions in the north, with new main roads added in the department of the Amazonas. There was also a new part of the 28C added in the department of Junin more south (not pictured below).

In Taiwan some roads were added in the north around the Dongyanshan National Forest.

Finally in the southern half of the United States a lot of new roads were added. There are too much of them to be illustrated but the additions are located in the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, southern Indiana, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia.

Imagery Update

Last week updates were found in 26 countries. Updates resumed in many countries, with a lot of new March and the first April 2023 imagery being released.

Google Car Spotting

Last week Google Street View cameras were reported 57 times by people from 19 different countries. The most interesting spotting of the week was in Greece, with a car being spotted for the very first time on the island of Limnos which is still not available on Street View yet.
