Every time Google updates the list of places that are going to be covered by the Street View cars we do a brief summary of what changed and see if new places are coming on Street View.
This update changed entries in a few countries, with some additions but unfortunately also deletions.
Bulgaria
Many counties were added, meaning Google is planning to update the whole country. This is great news when we know how depressive the country looks on Street View with old, wintery imagery.
The added counties are: Varna, Pleven, Ruse, Targovishte, Razgrad, Shumen, Silistra, Dobrich, Blagoevgrad, Sliven, Haskovo, Kardzali, Smolyan.
Denmark
The whole country got extended to October.
Finland
The whole country got extended to October. However we do not know if the pictures will finally be published.
Greece
The whole country is now planned up to September instead of December. Maybe the cameras will be sent to another country nearby instead? If yes this would either be Bulgaria, which already has cameras, or in ex-Yugoslavian countries such as Serbia which would be something quite noticeable.
Italy
The whole country got extended to December.
Japan
Japan always get changes when the list is updated, probably Google Japan is invested into maintaining it. The operated changes per prefecture are:
- Kanagawa: extended to end of September
- Toyama: extended to end of September
- Gunma: Takasaki added, extended to end of September
- Nagano: Ueda added, extended to end of August
- Shizuoka: extended to end of September
- Ehime: extended to end of September
- Fukushima: extended to end of August
- Kagawa: extended to end of August
- Wakayama: extended to end of September
- Aichi: extended to end of September
- Hiroshima: Kure, Higashi Hiroshima added
- Chiba: extended to end of September
- Saitama: extended to end of September
- Tokyo: extended to end of September
Portugal
The whole country got extended to December.
Some districts were added: Santarém, Setúbal, Viana do Castelo, Vila Real, Viseu.
Unfortunately the islands (both Madeira and the Azores) were removed from the list. We know a car was driving on Madeira, mostly in the city of Funchal so an update should happen there in the future. However it is unknown if more places on the island were imaged. As for the Azores no information about cars driving here can be found. It is estimated that only Funchal will receive an update, a huge letdown when all the islands were initially planned. We hope this removal is temporary or an error and that cars will still drive on the islands to finally update and complete their coverage.
Spain
The whole country is extended to mid-November (this is not visible on the website, only in the data file loaded by it).
Switzerland
The whole country is now planned up to August (instead of October).
