3rd major list update: Google confirms updated coverage in Dominican Republic, Bolivia and more!

Two new countries have now been confirmed to be receiving their first Gen 4, along with several major regional updates!

Since last year, Google has occasionally released major list updates, which often confirm where Google plans to update Street View next—whether in new countries, new areas, or places receiving their first Gen 4 coverage. These updates have become more frequent in recent months, reflecting a broader ramp-up in Street View activity, especially in Europe and Latin America. In this latest list update, Bolivia has been confirmed to be receiving Gen 4 coverage, following an earlier unconfirmed job posting. The Dominican Republic was also added to the list, confirming that we’ll see updated coverage in the country! In addition, several countries had their lists or coverage dates revised and expanded, including Costa Rica, Ecuador, Uruguay, Türkiye, Kenya, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Oman, and Ghana.

🇩🇴 Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is the newest country on Street View with only Gen 3 coverage, originally captured in 2019 and limited to Santiago de los Caballeros and the capital, Santo Domingo.

However, with this update, that’s set to change—the Dominican Republic has been re-added to the list. Currently, only the capital, Santo Domingo, is listed for coverage, but as we’ve seen in Ecuador and Uruguay, it’s likely that the rest of the country will follow. Google plans to cover Santo Domingo between April and May 2025, and we can reasonably expect additional areas to be included afterwards.

Towns listed for the Dominican Republic are currently only in Santo Domingo, denoted in orange.

🇵🇷 Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico, which was recently updated in late 2024, being the first official Smallcam coverage has now been updated on the list. Several new towns near San Juan and Caguas have been included, reflecting the gradual expansion of coverage since its original release. Additionally, the city of Ponce has been added, making it the westernmost planned Gen 4 coverage in Puerto Rico so far.

These updates are currently scheduled to take place between April and June of this year, and we might see a fast rollout similar to the initial release.

🇨🇷 Costa Rica

Costa Rica received its fourth list update today, confirming coverage in the northeast of the country and areas south of Cartago. As the expansion continues, it’s a strong sign that we’re getting closer to a full release.

According to the current list, this coverage is scheduled to be driven between April and May 2025.

🇪🇨 Ecuador

Ecuador, which has been gradually driven since last year, has also received a list update. The city of Cuenca and its surrounding areas, along with the coastal city of Playas, have been added—marking the southernmost Gen 4 coverage in the country. Currently, Ecuador is scheduled to be driven between April and June 2025.

🇧🇴 Bolivia

Bolivia, which had been rumored for months following a job posting by JSAN Consulting, has now been confirmed, as it has been added to the list. At present, the country only features Gen 3 coverage, limited to highways and select urban areas. The new list includes only the capital, La Paz, but given the precedent set by countries like Ecuador—and the fact that the original job offer mentioned Santa Cruz de la Sierra—it’s likely that coverage will expand to other cities and regions as well.

Bolivia is currently scheduled to be driven from May to June of this year, with further expansion likely to follow.

🇺🇾 Uruguay

Uruguay, which was originally listed with only the capital, has now been expanded to include several towns and cities outside Montevideo, including nearby regions. Following the first confirmed spotting in the country—which indicated that pickup trucks would be used—we now also have confirmation that coverage will extend beyond the capital.

Currently, Uruguay is scheduled to be driven from April to June 2025, similar to several of the aforementioned countries.

🇹🇷 Türkiye

Türkiye, which already has fairly extensive list coverage, has just been expanded to include new areas in the northeast near the Black Sea, as well as the southwest of the country. Street View driving in Türkiye is currently scheduled from April to June 2025.

🇰🇪 Kenya

Kenya, similar to Türkiye, has also been receiving expanded coverage—primarily in the southwest, where the majority of the population lives. Additionally, some areas near Mombasa along the coast have been added. Currently, Kenya is scheduled for driving between April and May 2025.

🇧🇩 Bangladesh

Bangladesh, which is set to receive its first Street View coverage following last year’s rollout, has had several towns added—primarily in the west and south of the country, where spottings had already confirmed upcoming activity. The eastern city of Brahmanbaria has also been added to the list. Currently, Bangladesh is scheduled to be driven between April and May 2025.

🇲🇾 Malaysia

Malaysia has also seen an expansion in this update, with several towns scattered across the country now included. Interestingly, some towns near the border with Brunei have been listed—though coverage in that region had already been previously confirmed. Additionally, more inland towns such as Gua Musang have been added. Currently, the newly added Malaysian towns are scheduled to be driven between April and June of this year.

🇴🇲 Oman

Oman, which was released last year and already had fairly thorough coverage, has just been expanded. The country’s northern exclaves—including the Musandam Peninsula and Madha—have now been listed, with the towns of Khasab and Madha, both separated from the mainland by the UAE, set to receive coverage. Additionally, the coastal town of Al Khaburah and the central town of Haima will also be included. This coverage is currently scheduled to be driven between April and May 2025.

🇬🇭 Ghana and other updates

Lastly, Ghana’s listing has been updated to confirm that the cities of Accra and Tema are scheduled to receive coverage in April 2025.

Beyond that, this update didn’t include much additional information—though in several countries, towns and cities were removed from the list, likely because coverage in those areas has been completed. With these list updates, it seems Google is focusing a lot more in expanding Street View to new countries, and updating previous ones at the same time rapidly, more than we previously assumed. Hopefully we’ll see more updates like this from Google in the future, and especially hope that we’ll get Gen 4 from all these countries, as some have yet to be confirmed.
